3 to 5 axis upgrade retrofit

Looking for instructions on retrofitting and upgrading existing 3 axis setup on 3dtek heavymill.

3 axis setup is working and configured. Have 5 axis software upgrade. Want to activate b axis. Have limit switches installed on gantry.

Is it simply a case of wiring in the b axis inputs, or does it need its own seperate axis calibration?

Also, what is the homing sequence? Currently z, then x and y as per Masso video.

Hugo,

It is fairly straightforward, connect the "slave" B axis to the B axis connections, in the B axis settings tick the inverted and slaved boxes (the other values are transferred from the Y axis), the inverted box in the homing settings, add the B axis homing input and you're done in MASSO. The fun and games begin in adjusting the B axis homing sensor to the correct position to square the gantry.

I've attached the Y,B axis and homing settings for the BMS 3Dtek Heavy Mill.

Regards,

Arie.

Thank you Arie.

So just the one limit/homing switch?
Just confirming no limit switch required at the other end because of existing limit switch for y axis.

Kind regards,

Hugo.

Hugo,

I installed limit switches at all ends of the axes, bit of an overkill. Originally I was homing to the back of the machine, but because of soft limit problems I changed to homing to the front so the switches were there. It's up to you if do the same.

Once you setup soft limits you shouldn't overrun any limit switch!

Arie.
