ALARM -soft x limit

I am creating cutting files using V-Carve Pro.

I am using the Masso controller with software Mill4 Axis V3.47.4

I keep getting an "ALARM-soft x limit". Yet the machine is no where near the x limit.

This problem is new and nothing has changed in the way I use the machine, which I use regularly.

The limit error is showing up toward the end of the toolpath, in the centre of the material, yet has cut other toolpaths (in the same file) well beyond this "alarm" area in x and y. See attached image.

I have tried rebooting the machine several times. This does nothing. I have tried creating a new cuttng file that includes only the uncut toolpaths (after the spot where the machine stops because of the alarm) but it just finds another x limit alarm.

I have inspected my VCarve cutting file settings but nothing seems amiss and my Masso settings are fine (they have never presented a problem before).

I have tried using three different flash drives to load the files (in case there was some kind of corruption on the flash drive) but that made no difference.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks

Jim

Jim,

You will find that, the offending line is NOT where MASSO is cutting but many lines ahead depending on the commands being processed, it could up to 50 or more lines. Somewhere there is a X move that exceeds the X soft limit. It could be at the end of the file when returning to home position.

Post your setting config and the NC file, so we can have a look.

Regards,

Arie.

Arie,

Thankyou for your help so far.

Even though I did say I have made no changes to my config, I remember that recently I have started moving the x axis +18mm away from machine home and then zeroing that position. I have done this as my machine home is -18mm offset from the V Carve Pro zero x/y start point on my cutting file (and I still do not understand how to do that even though I have talked to the Vectric people. More work on my part required there).

Attached is my NC file and my settings config.

I have addressed the issue for now by moving my Vacuum table back towards home position by 18mm. It seems that even though I have used the machine this way for quite a while now, the particular file I was cutting did indeed extend past the soft limit of the machine.

Doing this allowed me to cut my file through to the end.

Thank you,

Jim

Jim,
Forum will not allow me to upload my .txt toolpath file

You could have changed the extension to .NC if it is a small file or zipped if large.

From the upload files section below.
Allowed file types: jpg,jpeg,gif,png,bmp,pdf,cnc,tap,htg,nc,scpost,zip

@jaykayeh

Jim,

The next release of software will display this message when a soft limit is thrown.

Regards,

Arie.
