Wiring spindle to TECO Westinghouse VFD. I have very little documentation on the spindle motor.

I assume the yellow, blue, and green wires are power? I'm fairly sure the green is ground. Not sure about blue and yellow though??

Pic of wires attached...

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Oh yeah, I have that diagram in front of me ... but it does not indicate color of wires coming from spindle. I need to know which color means what coming from my spindle before I can attach to VFD. Hope that makes sense...

No Green is NOT ground in this case.

VFD's are variable frequency 3 phase power supplies. Therefore there is AC voltage between each wire.

Supply pic of spindle, VFD and associated wiring so that we can supply a correct answer for connection.

Normally wiring between VFD and spindle is run in 4 wire shielded cable, to reduce RF interference. 3 wires are for power, 4th is ground and the shield is grounded at the VFD only.

I assume you are wiring up as per MASSO page TECO Westinghouse VFD

OIC the order of the motor wires connecting to the VFD output terminals are not critical since its a 3-phase motor. You just need to connect one wire on each terminal. If it runs backwards then you can simply swap two of the wires and it will reverse the direction.

VFD's usually need to have the settings adjust to work properly so you will need to find the manual to determine what the codes and settings need to be for your VFD. I found an instruction manual for the Teco Westinghouse L510 model here. If yours is a different model then google the make and model to find the right manual.

Ok, Testyourdesign, that worked using the VFD! Thank you sooooo much.

Do I have to connect the red, white, blue, black, and brown wires?

What terminals are the other end connected too?

For MASSO to control spindle direction & speed you need to connect S1, S2 & COM to MASSO spindle connector terminals 7 - 4, 1 to AV1 and don't forget connecting AGND to MASSO's -ve power supply connection.

Arie.
