Back a few weeks ago I asked why my ATZ is not functioning. I got the usual excellent answers and I am grateful for them (Breezy).
Here's a thing, I have this natty touch-block with a spring loaded plate. Theory is that if the Z axis wants to travel on to the center of the Earth, I can intercept it with a deft E-stop. I have tested the continuity of this block many times and without fail it triggers a 'High' response in MASSO (F1). That says to me that MASSO is aware that the tool needs zeroing after a change and I expect MASSO to go into the ATZ routine: Spindle down, touch block, adjust Zero for the new tool and send the spindle up to the appropriate position.
The above is not happening. When ATZ is triggered, the spindle moves to the appropriate X/Y location of the touch-block, descends Z and touches the block (triggering MASSO) and continues on downward.
This does not appear to be a contact problem between the tool and the block. In F1, the ATZ goes from Low to High correctly. What is happening is that MASSO does not seem to recognise the contact between the tool and touch-block even though F1 ATZ goes to High. In my naivety I believe that MASSO has lost the ability to respond correctly to the physical contact and make the Zero adjustment and return the spindle upward to its correct location ready to do work.
What can I do to sort this out? I have reinstalled version 3.47, as that was the last version before I updated to v4.1, to see if that made a difference (3.47 always worked ATZ perfectly). It didn't. 3.47 now has the same problem as the more recent software updates (4 and 4.1). So, if it isn't a software problem, is it a MASSO problem?
