Axis resolution?

Hello,

I have 4 kelling 5056 micro steppers with 290 oz motors at 1/8 steps 20 TPI on my mill...Are these settings correct? It's moving, but not totally on point.

Also: I have a logitech MK270 mouse keyboard wireless combo. The arrow keys stop after 1.000, while using the mouse on the screen will make it run continuous.

Are these settings correct? It's moving, but not totally on point.

Have you calibrated your machine? Run the wizard on each axis.
The arrow keys stop after 1.000, while using the mouse on the screen will make it run continuous.

Have you selected continuous mode in the jog screen. Arrow keys will move single step, depending on resolution selected, unless continuous mode is pressed it will flash red when active.

Yes I calibrated with the wizard as well, but those numbers were not correct. I'll have to try that on the arrow keys.

The 800 pulses per revolution seem too low for stepper motors, generally drivers apply a micro step multiplier of 10, so with 200 step motors x 10 = 2000 steps per revolution. Your figure of 800 is using a multiplier of 4 which will result in poor resolution.

Are the motors direct drive on the leadscrew?

What do you mean by motors at 1/8 steps? Do you mean 1.8* per step eg. 200 steps per revolution.

With your 20 TPI leadscrew what is the travel for ONE revolution?

Provide these figures and we can work out what basic settings you need to place in the axis settings and then you can calibrate to adjust the Distance traveled per revolution.

I'm up and running now. Thanks for the help.

Pain but trying to figure that out. That link I provided was the most help i've found.
