After running wizard for any axis I have to rehome the machine or soft limit for the axis I just run the wizard on will trip going past the zero point I put in for the wizard. Hope that makes sense. Do you have to disable soft limits to run wizard?

Thank You

Hi @rroie

Disable the soft limits as they get setup after you calibrate your Axis. The best way to do this is to set large positive and negative limits to ensure you cannot reach the limits.

Once you have the axis calibrated then setup homing followed by soft limits.

By soft limits I assume you mean the minimum and maximum in the axis dialog boxes. See attached. I used a 36" Outside Micrometer Standard Rod to set the x and y calibration. and a 7 inch one to set the z axis. If I load a file set x,y.z coordinates I can run the file. If I use the "go to work orgin" button, I get x axis soft limit alarm. So I can not use F4 to save my work origin. So I guess I am asking how do I back out of the calibration now and start over. I am not going past the soft limits in calibration or jogging around.

Thank You

Roie,
If I load a file set x,y.z coordinates I can run the file. If I use the "go to work orgin" button, I get x axis soft limit alarm. So I can not use F4 to save my work origin.

To get your machine setup and calibrated you need to complete each step as laid out by Peter, he has produced several howto videos. DON'T try to run before you can walk.
  • First set max & min values in each axis that are "larger" than your machine (min can be -ve) - this prevents soft limit alarms while setting up.
  • Set max feed rate for each axis, based on motor "max speed" and "gearing" of the axis. X & Y are usually the same.
  • Now you are ready to "calibrate" each axis with the wizard.
  • Position to a "zero" point where you can measure the travel.
  • Start wizard and "zero" wizard.
  • Switch to F3 screen and move/jog to the end of your "measuring stick"
  • Return to F1 screen and press calibrate. The axis is now calibrated.
  • Now setup homing.
  • Then return to axis setup and set correct values for max & min.

Now you should be able to set F4 WCS.

Regards,

Arie.

I think I got it now. Will try again latter. I recalibrated everything and set homing and soft limits. I need the F4 when I am doing two sided projects. Do not get them done in the same day sometimes. My lids where off a little. Will try a new one today and see what happens.

Thank you as always Peter and Breezy. Could not do lit with out your help.

Thank You
