I haven't had the Masso on for over a year due to health reasons. I was trying to put in the updates. My unit has a serial number 5A-1836. Need some help I can't get past the password screen, keeps saying I put in the wrong password.

I keep putting in HTG default password, and I get a message that says wrong password, I try to check the change password box, but it won't check so I can;t go any further.

I seen a you tube video about Masso and the guy was using a mouse on his screen. What do I do so I can do that?

Hi Jim,

To use a mouse all you need do is plug one in.

It looks like from your serial number you are using the G2 version Masso so you will need to use a USB hub plugged into the keyboard USB port and then you can plug both the Keyboard and mouse into it.

A basic USB2 hub will work fine. It does not need to be powered.

Just something to be aware of with the password is that Masso boots up with the keyboard in the CapsLock condition so you don't need to press the Shift key to get capital HTG. Not all keyboards have a capital indication button and you cannot see what you type to know you are already in capitals.

Hope this helps

Cheers

Peter

@jim-in-michigan we have just sent you two emails, one with password reset software and the other with the latest main software that you will need to load to the controller after you have reset the password.

I am losings ground. Tried the updates you sent me. The screen says it loaded to 100% but I get a error message that some PS2 device is connected to the masso. But there is nothing connected except the monitor and power supply

This is my first try at using a forum like this, how do I find other people that respond to my questions? I just tried to get the updates you sent earlier. I put the flash drive in then power on the masso, it shows a bar that says it is loading.when it says 100% I power the unit down, then I power it back up an get a red error message. The message says please make sure no device or extension cables are connected to the PS2 connector on the masso and power cycle the unit. Another message says data 1.HTG not found on the usb device.

Don't do Facebook and the only skyping I have done is with grand kids. Does Masso have any support in the US? How do you contact other forum members when they comment on your problem?

@jim-in-michigan

Insert their username into the message as I have done here (as you type the username, the forum attempts to autofill for you). This results in a email being sent to that member with the contents of the message.

Arie.

I had a similar problem, where I had accidentally changed the password to something unknown. Support sent me password reset software to sort that out.

I also had problems with uploading software so I setup a routine to handle updates.
  • set aside a USB stick for software updates only.
  • form a file structure where the updates are kept in folders with the update name.
  • these folders are in an updates folder.
  • password reset in it's own folder.
  • the only files in the root are the current update.
  • disconnect USB hub (keyboard & Gcode USB) and use USB port for updates.
  • after update process, serial number file is removed from root of update USB.
  • reboot.
  • when rebooted successfully remove update USB and reconnect USB hub to use keyboard & Gcode USB.
  • reboot.

When MASSO does an update, on completion of the update process it renames the extension of 000xxxxx.HTG to .HT1. My problem was that was not successful and when repowering as instructed it would result in a rerun of the update process. That is why I came up with the above routine.

So try running the above routine with password reset software and then with the latest software that support has supplied. Disconnect any pendant or PS controller before trying to install software.

Regards,

Arie.

I want to know if it would be possible to mail my controller back and get you to fix my problems? I keep trying to put in the updates you emailed to me back on 12-17-19. Each time I try

my controller faults out sooner. One time the yellow bar showed it was loading to 100%, then a red message came up that said please make sure no devices or extension cables are connected to the PS2 connector on the masso and power cycle the unit. The last time I tried I just get the red error message. When I try to load the updates there is nothing connected to the masso except the power supply, monitor, and my flash drive. I have reformatted my flash drive a couple of times, same results. The flash drive says the updates are on it under the name masso. I am getting frustrated got over 500.00 invested and haven't even got my stepper motors to move, and not I can't even get it to power up. Thanks and have a good day

Masso controller can be finicky when it comes to flash drives. Have you tried another fresh drive yet? If not then try formatting a new one with Fat32 and 16kb settings. Older flash drives work best but not all of them are compatible. It took me a few tries to find one that could format correctly. I live in Florida and have been using Masso controllers for more than a year. I would be glad to walk you through the process if you like.

Merry Christmas. Is it better to use a 2.0 or a 3.0 16 gig flash drive? Would be good to know before I buy a new one, I am using the one I used when I first got my masso.

I put in the flash drive then power up and get a red error message that says to make sure no device or extension cables are connected to ps2 connector on the masso.

Either will work and your allowed up to 32 gig in size, try reformatting your old one by unchecking the quick format. The long format will map off any bad sectors, it just takes a while to do it.

In my experience, the smaller USB sticks work better but I am using a Sandisk Cruser 8GB stick right now without any issues. The trick is to have good initial formatting with Fat 32 and 16kb allocation. I would go with a name brand 1 to 4GB USB 2 version if you are buying a new one. A small stick can hold hundreds of programs and its really inexpensive. Segomans idea to reformat your current USB stick again would be a good idea also.

Merry Christmas.
