DC motor spindle controller wiring

Hello Masso forum,

I am retrofitting a venture vpe 61, Wich is a old Italian engraving machine.

I got everything working except for the DC motor that the spindle uses.

This is the DC motor controller i am using: https://www.ebay.nl/itm/12V-24V-48V...e=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

The motor controller wants a External PWM input requirements: level 3.5-12V VPP, frequency 1K-5KHZ signal to work. I use the second pin on the masso spindel control output for the + PMW signal and the power supply ground for the - PMW signal. I have set the frequency in the masso settings to 5khz. But i am not able to get the spindle to turn on by Masso. In manual control on the motor controller the spindle works fine.

Can someone please tell me if this DC motor controllers is compatible with Masso and how to get it working. If its not compatible could someone suggest a beter DC motor cotroller?

Thank you!

Hi @ejberends

How did you test the external PWM input of your speed controller? Did you use an external PWM generator?

Using the built in Potentiometer does not test that the PWM input is working.

What commands did you issue in Masso when testing? Without a speed command there will be no PWM output. eg S10000 M03

Cheers

Hello Peter,

Thank you this was all the information in needed! I was only testing the spindle with the spindle CW button in Masso. Giving it a RPM value turn the spindle on.
