Difference between Plasma & Mill

Can anyone tell me the difference between the Plasma Version and the Mill version of the Masso..??

I am rebuilding an old CNC router to be both a mill and a plasma and want to know if I can use the plasma version to run the mill since it has the THC.

Hi Dan, Plasma version has touch off in the program to set the Z zero and is nearly impossible to set heights for routing.

What Masso can do is supply both Mill and plasma programs and you can use two usb sticks to hold your settings for each.

We all have had the same thoughts as you do but found it isn't viable having both on the same table unless you have a very long Y axis.

Say front Half for routing and back half for plasma.

I have heard some one is doing two tables, one for each and will unplug the cables from one to the other and reload the program to suit. Very quick and easy to do when you think about it.

Thanks for the info....Kinda what I figured.

I will Probably go with the mill version and put one of the $300 independent THC units on it.

Hi Dan,

It's easy to swap between Plasma and Mill software if you want to use both.

I will be making a video on how to do it this weekend barring interruptions. It takes about 90 seconds to do.

Currently iam using a masso 5 axis mill. Where can I get 5 axis plasma software. Can I use both cnc and plasma simultaneously without changing software. If yes I would like to have it. If not how can I get plasma software. Iam a newbie help me. Iam having a long y axis around 16 feet work area.

Contact MASSO support and request plasma software.

You will need to change between plasma version and mill version by reloading the software and configuration files.

Thanks for your reply. Just now emailed for plasma version. And can u tell me how can I use laser on my masso mill version as it shows a laser option under work offset wizard.Does I need to connect to relay module to use it.
