Estop Wiring

Hi Everyone we have just recieved a brand new routeur with a masso G3 controller. I'm installing the safety system on the machine and I've need some advice.

The Estop button and the door sensor input are configured and working. The Estop output activate an optocoupler relay.

The machine hase a Fuling DZB 300 inverter for the spindle and use LeadShine L5 serie drive for the axis. I did'nt found much documentation for this particular model but I did'nt see any enable or kill input in what i have found. If there is really none, does I should use the ES output signal to kill the contactor of the drive ? Does the controller will be able to recover after a Estop ?

I have much experienced in robotic field than in the cnc world so I want to be sure to do the thing rigth.

For the vacuum pump does you power off them on an Estop or it is safier to keep them running ?

Thanks !

Hi Sebastien

It looks like the Forward and Reverse signals on your VFD uses a common DCM terminal.
Why not put an estop normally open relay contact in the DCM lead. The Estop output is normally on so the relay would be closed until you pressed the EStop at which time the relay would open and the spindle would stop overriding the FWD or REV signal.

Cheers Peter

Thanks it will help me greatly.

There is any place where I can find specs to calculate my security circuit ? Since the Estop need to pass by the G3 controller there is possible to find SIL categorie or MTTFd B10d and DC% ? I need to calculate the reliability of the system using the ISO 13849-1.

Have a good day !

For my leadshine L5 I finaly found how to install the Estop on it. I leave the info here it may help other ! You have to use the pin 1 and 2 in the CN2 connector. The pin 1 is the COM+ and the 2 is the Estop Input (to COM-)

Pin 2 is the Si1 input, you have to configure it to be the Estop function.

New question, I use a safety PLC to monitor everything around the machine (door, many estop button, fire alarm, intrusion, dust collector, state of the ESoutput of the G3,vacuum pump). At the end the PLC have a safety reley that generate a contact between the GND and the Estop1.

Does I can use the same relay to put all servo in Estop mode (The relay has 4no contact)? This way my circuit will be in the ISO 13849-1 standard. I'm wondering if the G3 Controller do some work between the EStop input and the ES output ?

Thanks !

Hi Sebastien

When Estop2 goes low the ES output will also Go low.
Because you are using Estop1 I assume that you have a pendant so the signal on Estop 1 travels through the pendant to Estop 2 which in turns sets the ES output either high or low as appropriate.
An Estop situation at the machine level, eg an alarm, will also set the ES output low if it encounters an issue.
If you want to add other external outputs other than the one on your pendant then put them is series with Estop 1. This would include the Relay contact the you mention. Just make sure the relay contact is normally closed and will open in an alarm situation.

Have a look at the link below. It shows how you should wire multiple Estops with your pendant.

https://docs.masso.com.au/wiring-and-setup/setup-and-calibration/e-stop#32DVFTCJXI

Hope this helps
Regards
Peter
