VFD setup should be done in steps as there can be issues with wiring or parameter setting on the VFD and trying to do everything in a single go will just create more confusion.

Step 1: Setting the parameters on the VFD to take 0-10v analog, CW & CCW signals as main control signals.

Step 2: Wiring the VFD with potentiometer and external switch to test controls.

Step 3: Wiring with MASSO.

Step 4: Settings and calibration on MASSO for VFD control.

Step 1:

  1. As per the manual set all the parameters as per your motor ratings, ACCEL, DECEL timings etc.
  2. In F0.01 set the control type to terminal.
  3. In F0.03 set to External terminal AI.
  4. In F2.07 set to three-wire control 2

Step 2:

  1. Wire a 5k Potentiometer to the VFD as per the attached diagram. Make sure to set the jumper or switch on VFD to AVI for 0~10v input.
  2. Wire two switches for forward (to S1) and reverse (S2) as per the attached.
  3. Next test if the spindle can now be controlled using the Potentiometer for RPM control and the two switches to control direction.

great, so you can change the spindle direction also?

Is it running as below:

  • If both switches off then no rotation.
  • if S1 on then turning CW
  • if S2 on then turning CCW

as per your questions in the email, are you talking about the small switch marked PNP/NPN ?

Can you confirm your results as we are not clear what you got working.

Hi

Ok, i only have S1 connected as per the picture i sent you. I first wanted to check that we can get the spindle running at all. With S1 connected, and the potentiometer, the spindle still does not start. Should the spindle start as soon as i turn the potentiometer?

Also just checking. You asked me to setup Parameter F2.07 as per "number 2" on the attached pic, but then asked me to wire the switches as per "number 1".

so this will be a combination of a few signals:
  1. first, the enable (EN) signal should be going to the VFD.
  2. second, the FWD or REV signals should be going to the VFD.
  3. third, try to rotate the potentiometer.

thanks, the switch looks to be on V already, so no need to change.

Please try to run the VFD as per the last instructions.

Cheers

mate we couldn't find anything in the user manual, they seem to be more excited about writing the blue elephant thing in the PDF than the actual information.

You will have to try all the S1 to S6 inputs one by one, sorry but this is the problem with these VFD's, the documentation is bad.

But i sent you the correct manual afterwords, did you not look at it? Here, i'll attach it again.

Cheers.
