I currently have a G2 masso I believe (HTG5A1S) just wondering how it is different to a G3, there seems to be no info that I could find, I purchased my unit a while ago but due to unforeseen circumstances couldn t go ahead with the build so everything got delayed and plans changed.

Can I connect wifi to a gen 2, this was just about to be released I believe when I stopped being able to play Cnc so not sure, also can I connect a touch screen to a G2.

The G2 was superseded by the G3 and as a consequence the G3 has more memory, a faster processor and rearranged I/O ports. As a result of the limited memory the G2 cannot run some of the new features that are being added to the G3 software.

Yes, you can connect WiFi to the G2 you need to check in myWorkshop whether you have purchased the WiFi software addon.

With regard to touch screen monitor look at our documentation on touch screens, because there is a limited number of touch screens that will work with MASSO. If you go down the path of a touch screen make sure it works with MASSO, at each power on you get 10 "free" touch screen taps, before purchasing the Touch screen software addon.

Ahh thanks for that, what new features are you referring to that the G3 can t do, I m wanting to run a large BT40 3 axis cnc mill, with a lot of 3D milling, and a little down the track a 4th axis, and or a 5 axis trunion, 16 tool umbrella ATC, 12kw spindle, 1 Kw AC servos, wireless probe, touch setter etc.

At the moment the differences are minor,
- Printable config file
- Touch probe to skip
plus some more.

But come next software update for G3 there will be many major differences - Digitizing Probing Cycle is one.

But your major problem will be 5 axis and tool changers, there is currently not enough memory to have 5 axis control and auto tool changer logic on the G2. We are working on a plan to remove features that many users have said aren't needed to make room for ATC & 4/5 axis control.

Arie.
