G2 to G3 upgrade

I have 2 x G2 4 axis mill controllers, l would like to upgrade one of these to a G3 4 axis mill controller.

Is it as simple as wiring in an inline fuse and uploading my settings from the G2, and then just unplug G2 and install G3 with G2 connectors?

I would prefer to just swap over connector plugs rather than swap wiring and possibly miswire anything.

I am aware that there is a difference to how software is loaded etc, my questions are more related to hardware

Peter,

I did a swap from G2 to Touch G3 so it was a little more complicated.

Basically it is a case of swapping I/O connections except the Estop output. G2 has internal relay driver for Estop, G3 requires TTL compatible relay.
Notice I said connections because G2 (8 terminal) & G3 (6 terminal) use different connectors for I/O. Also power has been separated into two connectors. You also need to rewire the 4th axis as the G3 uses differential outputs on all 5 axis. Have a look at the photo of G3 here. https://docs.masso.com.au/getting-started-guides/installing-masso/powering-masso-g3

With the settings you will need to enter them individually as the setting files are not compatible. Easiest way to do this do a screen dump (Print Screen key) of each setting screen, G2 will download BMP files onto USB which you can then refer to.

Regards,

Arie.
