gcode issue maybe

HI to all, My name is peter I'm 53 truck driver from Perth. Well I do like CNC machines when there working, HAHA. I do have a al250g metal lathe as well.

I do have another issue , I have recently reload my subscription of Fusion 360 due to the previous copy expiring & also have downloaded the Post Processor for it but the new post processor page is different to the one i had last. Gone into fusion 360 & made up a simple facing job, done the post process. got it all on the thumb drive & have loaded into the machine. Done a homing & toolset, moved the table to the centre of the job, loaded file, zeroed everything out then went to MDI & hit rewind then cycle start. machine proceeds to home position then keeps going past my home limit switch on the Y axis. What am I missing??? I did have this post processor issue once before but cannot remember how i fixed it!! Any suggestions please??? Thanks

Pete,

Fusion has changed the post procedure, you now use the NC program dialog.

What version PP are you using?
Current one from Autodesk is 43262

What is the version of software on MASSO?
Post copy of PRINTABLE config text file.

Regards,

Arie.

HI again, Today I tried a simple pocket job on my machine. went through the process ,tool path, post proc etc

got the G code saved it on thumb drive & put it into the Masso. Loaded the file, hit cycle start- bam she worked,

IT did what it is meant to do yippee! Did 3 more & they worked. then i did a few more( like 6 or so)

fail fail fail! .Where am i going wrong? could there be a issue with post processor? or G code? etc

I have the latest updates on the masso & fusion 360 .I did have fusion before till the subscription run out. renewed that & it seems to have changed

things ie: post page was different, I did get that back, thinking that may fix it but it didn't, it now all seems to be hit and miss. I am not the best with all this stuff & running out of patience with it. I have the HAAS post processor ( the one recommended ) I do remember having some issues with fusion when i did the first time but sorted it out all good .

Any advise would be grateful appreciated cheers:

@pete71

Pete,

Upload the failed gcode files that you produced using the MASSO PP.

As a side where are you located in Perth?

Regards,

Arie.

Pete,

Could you upload your PRINTABLE config text file. You'll need to zip it.
Also where are you placing the WCS zero point in reference to the machine, rough description will do.
What error's are occurring with the two that don't work?

Your a lot further south than me, I'm just south of Freo.

Regards,

Arie.

hi Arie, sorry mate not a full bottle on this computer stuff, where would i find this config file?? not getting any error codes come up. gcode seems fine but when i put it into the machine it just sends it to its limits. Have tried a couple of small jobs on an old vetric program which seems to work fine! appreciate your time, thanks Pete

Pete,

Sorry, forgot to include link to doc's on how to create config file.

It's good practice to save a copy of the config files to USB as well, if some reason you stuff up your config you can always reload the previous version.

Arie.

Pete

In your settings file you have put your tool change position outside your Y axis soft limits.
Y limits is 0 to -190 and you have told the Y axis to move to Y +160

=============Y-Axis=============
- Motor: Distance per revolution: 5.000000
- Drive: Pulses per revolution: 4000.000000
- Maximum Feedrate: 700.000000
- Acceleration: 30.000000
- Travel Minimum: -190.000000
- Travel Maximum: 0.000000

==========Tool Changer==========
- Tool changer in use: 1: Manual Tool Change
- Z-Axis tool change position: -30.000000
- X-Axis tool change position: 65.000000
- Y-Axis tool change position: 160.000000

Be aware that tool change does not obey soft limits which allow you to set a valid tool change position outside the cutting area.
This is why you are crashing the machine when it get an M6 in the Gcode and get no soft limit alarm.
The only reason the 8887 file worked is that tool 14 was already loaded otherwise it would have failed as well.
Would I be correct in assuming that file 8887 was written using the HAAS PP.

Regards,

Arie.

PS. Thanks go to CNCNutz who provided me, offline, with the pointers as to where the problem was.
