Hafco hm-46 conversion

Hay guys

Have got myself a hafco hm-46 for conversion.

Only a few weeks in still awaiting deliveries..

Obviously running masso controller also awaiting clearpath nema 34 servos

Will be running 2005 ballscrew for x and y and 2505 for my z.

Have ordered a vandle proof ss keyboard with trackball from ebay as well.

Will be running TTS tooling with possibly a 3 tool linear tool changer.

Have a 2.2kw motor with vfd and breaking resistors. Still awaiting encoder for spindle.

Will be running a 1.5:1 ratio to get to 4k rpm from a 2850rpm motor.

Will be updating every few days as I progress.

Any feedback would be awesome.

Thanks for sharing the info, as you are using clearpaths on your machine, please make sure to wire the alarm signals for each motor back to MASSO for feedback in case of axis issues.

Few more bits arrived today

Motor vfd and braking resistors.

Thanks to our local supplier global rewinds.

I think I'll keep the vfd as far away as possible to the controller to eliminate any emf from the vfd. Finally received my bootlace kit as well. Will mount some din rails into my cabinet and start the wiring.

So mounted some din rails in my board.

Have long lead time on servos so I'll be making a way forward on my ballscrew assembly.

I have to 3d print up a din rail mount for my resistors.

Also a clearpath power supply to mount in the center. Might also run a din mount gpo.

So decided to print a din mount for my resistors..

Both will be on the same mound just with spacers between resistors and mount.

Started the print and when I come back it was green..... Forgot to select second extruder for black filimant.grrrrr

8 hours later and it's done. It's green but its done.

Will print out some spacers to suit M6 bolts

Spaces done.

1000 line spindle encoder due to rockup tomorrow as well. Not sure how I'll mount that as yet.

We are releasing a new optical encoder that you can point to the spindle pulley and wont need any mechanical engagement, maybe you can use one of these.

When will this be released I'm keen to try it out.

And will it be accurate enough for rigid tapping.

I'm guessing minimum resolution will be 1rpm

So I'll have to run the encoder.
