hardware input rapid/jog input

I am connecting some switches to the inputs at the moment just x,y,z plus and minus and rapid/jog all switches are working correctly (You see a state change in setup) but the rapid/jog no matter what state it is in does nothing, I cannot do rapid moves around the board only steps

I would assume pressing this button and changing its value from high to low or low to high would be the same as holding shift down on the keyboard.

Is there a software issue? or is there a setting somewhere that disables the inputs ability to work

so to recap

the input is showing a change of state in the setup menu (Therefore not a hardware issue)

It currently has no effect on the x and y movement whether low or high movements are just in steps

I have tried in different screen modes especially jog mode

Steve,

I believe the external buttons work the same as the keyboard rapid moves, you have to hold the rapid mode button down whilst you press the axis + / - button.

If you only wish to move in rapids from the external buttons, you can wire the rapid mode input to the axis button. Peter mentioned that in one of the topics on this forum. Will need diodes in the circuit to prevent cross connections.

Regards,

Arie.

HaHa I will try a push button switch just had a go with what i had on hand. btw I am looking at selling my machine and building a cheaper one that will cut full 2400x1200 sheets unfortunately the cost of another masso is out of the question as I need to pay rent, I have not worked since getting cancer and have out lived all predictions but unfortunately I am running out of time and doing a build based on what i know now is something special. x and z are not the problem it will be the y axis unless industrial screw is up for the challenge (Maybe 2.6M). Rack and pinion looks like a lot of work especially finding parts. I am basically using the v wheel system but mixing it up with industrial ball screws and adding alloy plate to get ridged. and mounting onto a welded steel frame. I am kind of a its in my head make it up as i go along guy so should be interesting build

Any suggestions regarding Y axis would be helpful

Thank you for your support Arie I really appreciate it, it would be nice to be able to change jog resolution with inputs. but getting new assignable inputs is a road well trodden with a dead end sign dug firmly into the ground......

@breezy have installed push button switch and it definitely doesn't work have also put onto another input pin (18) and even though it is working (The Input) that doesn't work either. Am wondering if the latest firmware upgrade has broken its functionality. I will read the link you gave me but rapid jog definitely is working from the keyboard.

@cncnutz Peter could you please help with this as I have done all I can and it is looking like a problem with the Masso firmware or something with the masso. I have done all I can so far.... It is a very important component of my joystick control project lol without that button working I may as well throw the whole project away....

Hi Steve,

Will have a look at the Rapid Jog tonight when I get home from work.
It could be a possible bug in the 4 axis Version. It definitely works in the 5 Axis version because I use it myself.

Cheers

Hi Steve,

Sorry I didn't get back to you last night. I tested the 4 axis software and found the Jog/Rapid does not work in that version.
A software bug report has been created for this.
Can you please let me know your Masso serial number.

Cheers Peter

Thank you so much Peter for at least proving a Fault, G3-6597 is the serial number. Will this get repaired quickly as my time of productivity is becoming limited due to fatigue and permanent nerve damage to my hands and feet but being a Kiwi there is always a way lol

I have actually started a new build from the ground up for a 2400x1200 machine 2.2 Kw spindle using the v system of track with industrial lead screws ect, unfortunately I will have to go to another controller as the Masso is to expensive and I am trying to keep costs down have been looking into grbl on the esp32 its an interesting solution. and its network connectivity leaves Masso for dead.

I Will sell my machine and hopefully cover the cost of the new build and have a little left over.

Btw I have parts left over so am thinking rather than using the Masso to drive a laser, make a 600x600 laser with pins as feet you could basically put index countersink into a Masso project and drop this on top to do a laser cut or engraving rather than having to modify your existing CNC not to much of a mission as there is no Z Axis and a lot of laser dedicated (grbl) control firmware out there

Thank you so much for your Passion and commitment to the CNC community, It was probably your you tube channel that encouraged me to get into research and purchase of my CNC

Cheers Steve

Hi Steve,

Don't they have No.8 wire over there?

Have passed on the serial number and hopefully you will get something quickly.

Look after yourself and I wish you all the best for your new build.
Cheers Peter

Hi Steve,

There are no External inputs for changing the resolution.
You can use the keyboard commands 1,2,3 & 4

Lots of inputs, I am a happy man except return to home and park don't work. And it might pay to have a disable/test option in the setup screen as they all work and some of them going off while setting up could be tricky. But Thank you for adding these I just think they need refinement as in when they actually do their thing.

Cheers Steve

Hi Steve,

Are you aware that the Return home and Go to Parking Position and Auxilary inputs need to be pressed and held for about a second before they will work.
This is to stop accidental pressing of the buttons causing issues.

If pressing and holding the buttons doesn't work please let me know

Cheers Peter

Peter,
I know this is a old post. I have looked through the site and not found anything that I should have posted to and this is the closest feed I can come up with on the subject of go to parking command. I have just finished the buttons on the control panel and one of them is a park button. I found the set up for it in in the G55 etc. menu. It looks like a homing set up in which x, y, and z are defined. Would be useful for a tool setter location etc. My need is to sometime just rapid the Z up. I was hoping this would do that. Or maybe there is a better way that is escaping me at this moment.
So, the question is if I want the table to stay where it is at the present location and just retract the z to Z0 is there something like say a NA that can be put into the X and Y position so I can get only the Z to lift with this button push?
Regards,
Steve

Hi Steve.
The closet to what you want is the Goto Home Z axis button in MDI 1672122383800.png
It moves the Z axis to the Z0 home position without moving any other axis.
There is no external button for this function.

The next closet is the Jog/Rapid Z+ external input tied to the Rapid Jog Mode external input button which would move the Z axis up at rapid speed as long as you press the button.

The Parking should not be under G55

Cheers Peter

Peter, Thank you for your prompt response. I will look into making your suggestions work. Sorry about the reference to G 55 That was a reference to the f1 screen that the park function was found on and I know it is on the bottom of that screen. Just could not find what screen that is technically called.

Best Regards,
Steve
