Home Made Small CNC Machine

This is my home designed 3 axis CNC mill. I'm using aluminum for the machines structure because I need to lift the machine up several flights of stairs into a small loft space.

All three axis use hiwin rails, ballscrews and clearpath motors. The spindle is a Teknomotor 2.2KW driven by a Delta VFD-E series. One interesting thing about the spindle is that it allows you to manually change small HSK holders using a small torque wrench.

The enclosure is still being finished at a sheet metal shop, and this will have the Masso and electronics encased at the back.

I plan on anodizing everything once I trust it all fits properly.

Have to agree. Looks very smart. If this is your original design-well done. Not easy to start from scratch. I will keep an eye on your project.

Spindle hooked up, Enclosure Assembled... time to tune the Clearpaths and VFD. Hopefully I can try some test cuts this week!

Masso - Support,

The spindle is purely a mechanical tool change, using a hex key. Here is a video that highlights this well:

The holders are HSK32, which with experience from our large HSK63 machine... gives excellent rigidity.
