Homing does not move all the way to limit switch

It seems the logic only allows the machine to move less than .5" before it gives up looking for the switch. I have to manually move the machine very close to the switches before homing. Can this be changed so the axis moves the whole length of the machine if necessary to reach the Homing switches?
Maybe it's something easy I've overlooked!

Yes, I've watched several of the videos.
I think I have everything setup properly, but if the machine crashes and it loses it's position, It may think it's in the home position already and when I start the homing sequence it will not move at all. I can change the soft limits to allow it to move again in order to move it near the home switches and re home it. But, I still need to move it within about .25" before it will be able to finish homing without errors. No matter what I've tried, It has never moved towards the home switches at a distance greater than .393" in any axis. This seems to be more than just an axis setup issue.

An ideal situation would allow it to move towards the home switch position matter the distance, and reguardless of what the current dro reads.

@cmd1991

it would probably help if you posted some screen shots of your axis setups and homing setup. Also could be helpful to post a pic of your machine so we can see how you have it mechanically set up too.

Sure, in the meanwhile can someone explain a plausible reason for it not moving at all when it's out of position? If this is normal, would my only recourse be to manually move the machine to where it thinks it is?
This would seem quite odd to me... I thought this was the purpose of homing.

Ok, I'm hitting my head on the desk now... I inverted the home switch signals in the settings and now it's working properly!

So,does it home the length of travel now, and in the proper sequence ? Hopefully that's the end of that trouble.
