Masso Relay board wiring question.

I want to control a shop vacuum with my masso relay board. The relay is powered by 24V , is this power only for the logic side of the relay?

The Masso wiring diagram shows the tapping into the 24V supply to control lights. I need to hook up 120V across the relay. Will this work? I need some guidance or a wiring diagram that shows how to wire a 120V connection.

There are 3 terminals associated with each relay that you use to control whatever device, they are marked as NC, NO and common (see first picture in documentation). Connecting between NC and common will switch your device on when you send a signal to that relay.

I have a couple of concerns about you connecting your Shop vac direct to the Masso relay.

First the relay contacts are rated for 5Amp max and most shop vacs are double that or more. 5 amps at 120V is only 600watts.

The second is that you are introducing 120V onto the relay board potentially next to maybe a relay operating 24 volt light and another relay operating the Estop of a motor drive etc.
If you forget what you have connected to the relays, one day you might accidentally touch the 120v contact and it will bite you.

Personally I would use the Masso relay to switch a low voltage 12 or 24 volts to another relay elsewhere in the cabinet to turn on and off the shop vac. This relay could be suitably covered to prevent accidental contact with live mains voltage. It could also have contacts suitable to handle the current requirements of a Shopvac if needed.

Just a thought.

Thanks to everyone for their responses and help. I have a small shop vac that is rated at 120V and 5amps. hopefully that is a rating that is higher than it actually is. I need to measure the draw before I complete the circuit. If I do end up using the relay for this purpose, I will make sure to label it. I do like the idea of using this relay to operate a separate relay.

Would either of you have any experience wiring the Geko G213V drivers? I am confused about why the masso documentation shows wiring the 24 negative to the common on the driver and whether I still need to provide power 18V-80V to the drive. I currently have 48V connected.

Look into ice cube relays and or contactors for the really big stuff. my panel & Masso is all 12v. I run 240v 3ph pumps, solenoid vales ect from it..

This wiring diagram applies to all 80VDC 7A rated stepper drives including the G201, G201X, G202, G203V, G210, G210X, G212, G213V, GM215 and G214

MASSO Gecko G203V documentation is showing only the control side of the driver wiring, now you have electrons flowing from the MASSO and they need to get back there to complete the circuit, so you achieve that by connecting the Gecko common to the MASSO -ve PS.

Now to drive the steppers the Gecko needs power to do so, which is the 48v PS connected to pins 1 & 2.
