Jogs in same direction no matter what

Hi,

Im just testing/setting up the Masso G3 on my bench to test it. I just have one Driver and stepper motor on the the moment - nothing else. The stepper is on x Axis (though it does the same on Y Axis).

When I use Jog the stepper only ever moves in one direction. I have played with the min/ Max travel as suggested in another post but no change. If I set the 'Invert' flag the motor still travels in the same direction.

I tested the direction voltages (-3.2 one way, +3.2 other way, +-3.9 when not connected to the driver). the voltage does flip from Pos to Neg when I Jog on opposite direction. The Driver manual seem to want =5v to 24v though but says it can accept differential signal.

Driver : OnlineStepper CL57Y
Closed Loop : Stepper motor (bought as a set with the driver)

I have added the setting file, though not set much up as yet. Also added the driver manual..

My first thoughts was to try a 2nd driver just in case the optocoupler for the DIR inputs had failed (it appears you have already tried this - "though it does the same on Y Axis"). Please confirm that you have tried a 2nd CL57Y unit to confirm that it is not an issue specific to a specific stepper motor driver.

Optocouplers are quiet variable with current gains of 15% to 600% within the same batch of components, the device for the DIR input could be at the bottom end of the tolerance band. Technically 3.2V should be considered High for TTL logic (anything above 2.7V is high for a TTL output).

Try connecting DR- from the stepper motor driver to the negative power terminal of the Masso controller instead of the D- terminal of the axis. This will increase the voltage for the input slightly which should be enough to get things working.

If that wiring change doesn't work - confirm that the direction input of the stepper motor driver is working at all.

1. Connect the DR+ terminal to Masso positive power terminal and DR- terminal to Masso negative terminal
   
2. Jog the axis and note the direction it is turning.
   
3. Disconnect the DR+ terminal
   
4. Jog the axis, it should now be turning in the opposite direction if the direction input is working

Hi,

I tested as you mentioned with voltages from 5v to 10v and it still went in the same direction. So contacted the supplier and they are sending me a new one.
