Hi,

I m a complete novice to building a cnc so I m not sure of all the lingo but I will do my best to explain,
I have a 1997 Intermac Master 4000 CNC I use it for cutting Stone worktops, It has broken down recently and I can t get it up and running as Biesse - Intermac (the guys who made it), are no longer supporting the Drives and software because of its age. They have said it would need new drives and servos along with their new controller software etc basically they said it would be better to buy a newer model from them, anyway long story short they are talking upwards of 20k min to get the minimum parts required and not guarantee it working.
So I did some research and found Masso and thought it would be ideal for what I needed and save a fortune as it s only the Control side that is broken and in the last 3 years I have spent a tonne of money having servos reconditioned as well as drives etc so I know they are good for another 15 years They are electro-craft BRU- 500 on z axis and BRU-200 drives on y and x. The motors are reliance electrical f-6200-r-???aa on the x and y and f-4050-0-h04aa braked on the z axis.
We have tried to wire in the masso to the drives but have been unable to get any movement on any axis.

So, my question is, Is the Masso capable of controlling servos and drives of this nature and size or would I be best to source new servos?
I have been told it can't but that was from a 3rd party company I approached wanting to sell me their own control and new cabinet including all new electronics they specialise in retrofitting old mills.

Welcome TSG Tom

Looking at the drive Data Sheet it looks like the connection to the controller is via serial protocol, as far as I am aware the Masso only supports direction and step control of a motor driver but you could ask Masso support if that is the case, I have included the data sheet for your motor drivers so you can post that to them.

I would suggest you ask another question regarding suitable motor drivers for your setup. There are some very wise people on this forum with way more experience than me on your style of equipment hopefully someone might be able to suggest a motor driver that is compatible with your motors and Masso

Actually getting a Masso controller up and running is very easy so long as your equipment uses the same standards that it supports. (I would search the video's regarding servo motors and drivers)

Hopefully someone can come up with an inexpensive solution for your equipment

Steve
