Lathe tool offset swap.

Good Day - I have a special double sided tool on my lathe (see pic). This tool cuts I/D and O/D but obviously needs two offsets and that's setup now in Masso as T16 & T17.

Masso sees this as two separate tools and waits for a manual tool change and cycle start to continue machining. This is the only tool like this and therefore I don't want to change to "Gang" tool in setup.

Question: Is there a code that would force Masso to swap tools digitally and apply the desired tool offsets without stopping and waiting for a Cycle start again?

Cheers

@westyone

looks like G92 and G92.1 are the codes that will work for you. You can read up about them in the support section. Should be able to call a G92 and change just the X offset for one tip of the tool then go back to regular G54 offsets for other tip of tool. Also look at G10 but I couldn't see how to turn it off and on easily

@evermech - Thanks for that suggestion. The problem there is that to "Trim" the tool for size I would need to edit the program. The Masso controller wouldn't edit this program because it's too big.

@masso-support - I was hoping to use a "Virtual tool change". There must be a code within the tool change cycle that sets the new offsets for a tool.

@westyone this setup means to run two different tool changers in one and won't be possible as then you need to define and tell the controller what tool changer to use for each tool.
