M6.1 and spindle clamp on and off - Bug confirmed

I am new to the Beta and am currently setting up my tool changer - migrating to the beta linear tool changer pick and place type 2.

When I first loaded the software, there was no tool in the spindle. After setting up the rack, and inputs/outputs I tried the Txx M6 for a tool assigned to a slot. I noticed the chuck did not unclamp - I could tell because the air blast could not escape - so the tool change did not work.

I figured out that I could load a tool using Txx M6 if it was one I had assigned as manual. I could then use the MDI and Txx M6 for a tool in a slot, and it was successful because the spindle clamp was still off from the release of the manual tool.

I then tested the M6.1 to release a tool into the tool rack slot and it was also successful, but it kept the spindle clamp open, which I would not want for long periods as it might impact the Belleville washer stack of the drawbar.

I noticed the 'Set spindle clamp on' button in the MDI window was lit up red. After selecting it the spindle clamped. This is how I normally leave my machine before shutting down. I did not see much written in the document that explains some of the aforementioned, and if I missed it I would appreciate knowing where to find it.

If all of these scenarios are by design, will the user then need to remember to unclamp the spindle before trying to load a tool (it did not do so automatically in the scenario described above)? If yes, would it be a good idea to have a reminder in the GUI?

Also, I am appreciative of the many great updates in this Beta, and I am sure some of my questions are due to my relatively little experience with CNC machining.

Hi Tom,
I have confirmed the issue of the chuck clamp not closing after dropping off the tool and have created a ticket to get this looked at.
Many thanks

Cheers Peter
