Masso G3 controller

Hi everyone

i have recently built my own custom cnc machine and just purchased the new Masso G3 controller for it.

i was hoping getting the G3 controller would have made my life a bit easier or simpler with this unit as seeing online how easy its supposed to be to connect and program but i am not having much luck with it at all.

ive been trying for the pass 3 days to get it programmed and working, watch videos and reading documents and i am getting nowhere. i was wondering if there is someone in Melbourne that has some idea or can somehow help me getting this working. I'm located in Melbournes west and would really appreciate if there is anyone possible that can help me or shed some light on getting it working.

thank you

Charlie,

Could you be more specific about your problems so that people can offer help.

Did you have machine running from another controller or is this a completely new build?

Are you a business or hobby user as travel for work is allowed but not for any other reason atm

I am located in Melbourne north and have done a full conversion from Chinese controller to Masso it involved a complete rebuild of the electrical/electronic system and was not that hard the Masso controller is very easy to get running but if you are starting from scratch there may be other issues that are more mechanical or sensor placement related as Breezy says what is the starting point, maybe you could post a few photos and give a quick assessment of the problems you are having.

It would be good to also have a list of your external electronic parts also such as vfd make model, stepper driver make and model.

I Know how frustrating it is when setting up a new system, This community is amazing but it sounds like you want hands on support? and I don't think they allow users to get in contact with each other i might be wrong.

But as Arie has said what is the problem/problems?

Steve,

It is more of a privacy thing.

But you wish to contact a user from a comment on the forum just insert the @name into the message and that message gets sent to the email address registered on here.

@chucky

Charlie,

Thanks for sending your MASSO unit in for inspection, the +ve track for the auxiliary power terminals is blown as can be seen in attached photo.

This has been caused by a short circuit or a high current draw over a long period of time of the +ve terminals to -ve. As these boards are multilayered they are not repairable, but fortunately it is only the auxiliary terminal track is damaged, the unit still is useable and has been tested to confirm that all inputs and outputs work correctly. So you need to wire your inputs directly to the MASSO power supply instead of using the auxiliary power terminals.

So the question is do you have a 1 amp fuse in the power lead to MASSO? Are you powering high current draw sensors from the auxiliary power terminals?

In our installation documentation we state.
WARNING: The installation of a 1 amp fuse between your Power Supply and MASSO is required to protect against an accidental short circuit of the auxiliary power connectors on MASSO, such an event can damage the controller beyond repair.

CAUTION: Power and Ground terminals provided on the controller are only to be used for very low current signals. Connecting high current loads can damage the controller beyond repair.

From the ACCC document Electrical & whitegoods - an industry guide to the Australian Consumer Law

Abnormal use

Products are not expected to be indestructible; a consumer's use of a product can affect its durability.

The guarantee of acceptable quality will not apply if the consumer:

    • uses a product abnormally
    • causes the quality of a product to become unacceptable
    • fails to take reasonable steps to avoid the quality becoming unacceptable.

As the damage to your MASSO unit was caused by user action it is not covered by warranty.

So we are returning your unit as it is still functionable, although you cannot use the auxiliary power terminals.

Regards,

Arie.

Breezy.

Are you now a technician for Masso ?

By the read above it seems like you maybe.

You have a good background.

Where has Jatindra gone ?

Cheers.
