Finished one side of project flipped it over tried to load the next file and nothing works. I have tried installing v4.44, restarting, 6 different pen drives just sits there. I can home it that is all. The MPG controller works and that is it. The home button is the only thing that works on the screen.

Thank You

Hi rroie

Can you please clarify your situation?

You say that after completing the first side of a project you tried to load the next file. Did the file load and then you couldn't start or did you try and load the file and it wouldn't load?

You tried to load v3.44. Did the software update or is it still the previous version?

You tried 6 pen drives. Are you trying to load the Gcode file or update the software?

You say you can home the machine and jog with the MPG but that is all.

Does that mean the keyboard doesn't work?

Can you use the keys F1 to F6 or the mouse to move between the screens?

Can you enter MDI commands and make the axis move?

When you plug in your Flashdrive does the USB indication change from light gray to black? Can you see files on the flash drive?

If you can't see the flashdrive can you please try formatting it on a different PC Fat32 16K allocation units

Cheers Peter

@rroie

We'll need more information to determine the problem. Please upload screenshots of the settings pages on F1 screen using print screen function. Include windows for general, home, and motor settings as well as the pins. Please include a screenshot of the F2 screen when it locks up. It should only take a few minutes to download the image and upload the information here.

Nothing worked so that would have been impossible. I have since replaced the mouse and everything seems to work. It is 3:00 in the morning here so I can not run the CNC. I still can not update Masso v3.43 to v3.44. When I start Masso it goes to the Jog screen. I have the other side of a 20 hour carving on the CNC that I need to get done today. A day late. I have ordered the new Masso G3 and if this one will work till I get it, I will send the old one to Masso for diagnostic. I am fed up with it. The mouse connection has always been Problematic. Wish me luck today and I will get back to you later.

Thank You

Peter,

The software version is still 3.43 will not update to 3.44. After changing the mouse I can load the G code but not the update. I did all that Fat 32 and different PC this time and last and it never did work. I did not know about the F1 thru F6 keys on the key board but they did not work till I replaced the mouse.

Do not understand this:

When you plug in your Flashdrive does the USB indication change from light gray to black?

I ordered the new G3 and hope this one gets me through next week and then I will shut it down and run the laser.

You have always come through for me Peter. Thank You.

These are unfinished projects I am trying to get done. The other half of the big one is on CNC now.

Thank You Peter

I was able to finish the other half. I guess I am good for now. Will wait for the new Masso before doing anything else.

Thank You

Do not understand this:

When you look at the bottom right of the screen you will see the word USB. If it cannot see the Flash drive it will be gray and if it can see it then it will be black.

Very nice work indeed.

While this may seem a stupid question I will ask it anyway.

When you tried to do the update did you try with the keyboard and mouse unplugged and the flash drive in the USB port marked as flash drive. You cannot update with the flash drive in the keyboard port but you can load and run programs from the keyboard port. Just thought I would mention it. The fact that your mouse seems to have caused you a problem, maybe it was stopping the update.

I personally use the flash drive that i run my Gcode from the load the software. Just drop them in the root directory. Also make sure you do not have a any previous software on the drive that has been labeled .HT1 of it will fail as well.

I found the USB grey-black thing. Mine is on the right side bottom. It was not turning black with the update files on the pen drive just booting up. It would turn black with the G code pen drive. I Fat 32 formated several more pen drives and they would not work either. Must have 30 pen drives. They work in all four computers I have so do not understand why Masso does not like them. I found three pen drives that had G code on them that Masso liked. Deleted the G code put the update on it and the second time I tried it, it updated. I am just frustrated that I am spending so much time fooling with pen drives. What are the specs and brand that work in Masso? Should be stated up front only use ....... pen drives.

OK, for now but not happy.

Thank You

@rroie

I buy Sandisk Cruiser brand USB sticks. They usually work well with my G2 and G3 Masso controllers. The cheap ones never work for me either. Also, please note that software updates can only be uploaded when the stick is plugged directly in the controller. USB extension cables or USB hubs cannot be used for updates. I hope that helps relieve the pain and frustration!

I just ordered 4 of the Cruiser sticks. Thank you for the info. I understand the update usb must be plugged into the Masso directly.
