MASSO not working after connecting ground wire from power supply to spindle

I hooked a ground wire from power supply to my spindle so auto tool setter would work .And now it will not come on.Even with the ground wire removed.

Well I'm confused,

was it a ground wire or a dc- wire? It couldn't be the actual spindle, was it the vfd that drives it or some other electric device? Is the tool setter a tool changer? What will not come on, the Masso, the spindle, or the tool setter? Would be nice to know so we don't do the same thing accidentally.
