Masso spindle output voltage never goes to Zero

My VFD is one of the ones listed, i followed how it should be based off the wiring manual.

When i turn on masso spindle, it doesnt switch on the forward on the VFD

If i jumper the for and dcm then it selects forward and it runs normally. When i stop it though, it has a .3 volt that stays flowing from the masso in the off position to the spindle.

Anyone know a way to fix either of these?

Hi watchmker

It is normal for there to be a small voltage output when the spindle is turned off. Digital to Analogue converters are not perfect.
The spindle voltage is between ACM and V1 not DCM and Vi as you measure in the video so you are not measuring correctly.

You connected Spindle output 4 to the FOR which is wrong.
The wiring diagram in the documentation clearly shows Spindle output 4 connects to DCM on the Haun Yang VFD and FOR

There is a step by step video on connecting a VFD in the documentation.
It takes you step by step through installing the same VFD that you have.
The biggest thing is to follow it one step at a time and you should be up and running in no time.

My mistake if I said spindle 4 was connected to for, but it s correctly hooked up at DCM

I also still have a voltage between acm and V1 but if that s to be expected, no problem there.

my wiring rn is

For- 5

VI -1

dcm -4

acm- 24v ground Powering masso

that video is what I followed to set this up(which I appreciate you making) and haven t had success in getting the forward activated

Hi watchmker

Could you post a screen print of the Spindle setting screen on MASSO please.

Cheers Peter

I left my spin up time at 6 seconds, I know yours was lower

The spinup and down time makes no difference and the spindle will start immediately no matter the timer settings.

Lets go back to basics.
So I couldn't tell from the video.
Did youe spindle turn when you connected DCM to FOR. with the wire link?
I'm guessing it did but the VFD screen looked like it was in programing mode and couldn't hear the spindle turning.
If it didn't run then there is a VFD problem.

If it did run please disconnect wires from Spindle control 4 & 5 and connect them together to make sure the spindle runs.
This will prove your wiring all the way from MASSO to the VFD.

Let me know the result.
Cheers Peter

Well Peter,

You've done it again. I feel slightly stupid for not finding this one myself but happy to say you found it.

I had checked jumper between the DCM and For at the VFD but never at the board. Did it at the board and found the spindle didnt start.

From there i discovered that one of the pins on the breakout board i was using had no continuity with its brother.

Changed the wire to the next pin and now everything is working wonderfully.

Thank you for taking the time
