Masso Update Issues

Hello,

I have been having issues updating the Masso software since the 3.30beta version. I've been looking through the forums and have seen other people have had the same issue, which is on the power cycle the screen will stay black if the USB is plugged in, or if the USB is disconnected it will ask for data1 file. However, the solutions I have seen, which have been to reformat and change allocation or use a different USB have not worked in our case. I have also experienced the issue where with the core update, on the power cycle it will state there is no update found, etc., etc. What is the recommended course of action in a case like this?

  1. For the core update you only need to do it once and also if your controller shows v1.26 on top of the progress bar when updating the MASSO then you are already running core v1.26 and dont need to update the core.
  2. We have found that when formatting the USB drive on the PC, changing the allocation unit size in the format settings makes a difference. Can you please try setting it to 4096 if it gives you an option to do so.
  3. Next did you see the full message of the core update being completed?

  1. For the core update, I did manage to get it working just now after digging and finding yet another USB and formatting that.
  2. As stated, I DID try different allocation unit sizes, including 4096, 8182, 16kb, 32kb, and 64kb.
  3. See number 1. However, for reference I had to do more than power cycling. I initially loaded the USB with the .htg and .ht2 file, however power cycling yielded the no udpate found error. I checked the USB and there was no .ht2 file, but an .ht1. I loaded the .ht2 file in addition to leaving the .ht1 and it appeared to work.

I am still having issues with the black screen on the second part of the software update. It still yields the insert USB with data1 when there's no USB and black when there is.

ok, so please follow the below points and let us know at what step you have an issue:
  1. copy the two .htg files to the USB pen drive from v3.36 email.
  2. plugin to MASSO and power up
  3. You will see a progress bar go all the way to 100%
  4. Now power cycle the MASSO but leave the USB still connected.
  5. Give it some time as it might take some time but you should not see a progress bar this time, if you do see the progress bar at this stage then let us know.
  6. At this stage you should see the main screen on the MASSO.

Yes, I understand. These ARE the steps I have been following already. The issue I am having, and have been having since the 3.30 update, is after I power cycle, the screen stays black for an indefinite amount of time. I have tried letting it sit for up to 6 hours but to no avail.

So I've reverted the software to the the version we had been using before, which is the 3.28.22a. I've followed the instructions and have tried updating, in order from 3.28, to 3.36. I've successfully updated from 3.28 to 3.29, afterwards, the updates are unsuccessful.

I load both the serialnumber.htg and data1.htg onto the flash drive, plug the USB drive in to the controller with only those two files, which are not in a folder, while it is powered off and without any other USB accessories plugged in. From there I am successful in doing the initial loading of the software; the yellow bar completes and says to power cycle to finish update. I will power cycle the device without removing the usb, after waiting a few moments. This is where issue begins, the screen will flicker but stay blank afterwards. I've tried leaving it at that state for several hours, but to no avail. I will attempt to power cycle the controller again, but it will say to insert USB with data1 file, or occasionally stay blank. I've also tried loading the serialnumber and data1 software individually. If I power down the controller, pull the USB, and power the device on after the initial update it will again ask for the data1 file. Often times when I attempt to reload software to the USB, I find there is a serialnumber.ht1 file on the USB. I am assuming this is some sort of back up file?

At this point I am stumped, and have tried everything I can think of. The updates that include a data1 file, I just cannot get to work. I am starting to think that this may possibly be an issue with the hardware itself.
