Hi All,

When I use the jog keys on the F3 page my axis behave correctly. When I try to use the MPG, it doesn't matter which axis I select it will always drive the X axis.

Thanks Arie,

When I toggle:

Off- select X goes high and dial signal A and B both go high when the dial is moved in either direction.

X- there are no high signals. Dial signal A and B both go high when the dial is moved in either direction.

Y- both select X and select Y go high. Dial signal A and B both go high when the dial is moved in either direction.

Z- both select X and select Z go high. Dial signal A and B both go high when the dial is moved in either direction.

4- both select X and select A go high.Dial signal A and B both go high when the dial is moved in either direction.

5- both select X and select B go high.Dial signal A and B both go high when the dial is moved in either direction

6- select X goes high.Dial signal A and B both go high when the dial is moved in either direction.

@madscientist

I'll assume that you are connecting the MPG directly into MASSO and don't have an extension cable inbetween.

There is a short on the axis selection switch. Get up this page MPG Pendant and print out the drawing. Disconnect the MPG and test between pins 1 & 8 with the selection switch in any position but X, you should see O/C. If not it confirms what MASSO is showing.

It is up to you as what repairs you wish to do.

Arie.

Thanks again Arie,

My multi meter didn't show any impedance between 1 and 8 on any of the selections. As it's the first time I have plugged the MPG into the Masso and everything was only purchased a month ago, I might just send it back for warranty

@madscientist

Nathan,

I don't think that there is anything wrong with your MPG.

Had another look at the MASSO input results and realised that when X axis is selected it didn't go high so it is not a short between X select pin8 and common pin1. But somehow X select is going high when any other axis is selected. I think the fault is in MASSO MPG setup.

Check the status of the X select input in the F1 screen, see if it is the same as the other axis select inputs. If it is opposite, reverse it by selecting that input and pressing the spacebar.

Regards,

Arie.

Seems to have sorted it. When i set the Select X to low normal function was achieved. However it is setting the status as High on select B when I toggle the axis switch on any axis except 5.

Thanks for all the help.

@madscientist

Nathan,

Can you list the state of each axis select input as you switch through each axis position, so I can understand what you are saying about X & B.

Arie.

@madscientist

Nathan,

Can you do a screen dump of F1 (prtscr or Ctr P) with the axis selection in the off position and upload to here, that will be quicker than typing out the states of the MPG inputs.

Arie.

Nathan,

Instead of screen dumps just print off the settings as per Save & Load Settings Save printable file button and post that, you will have zip it because of the upload restrictions.

Arie.

haha I'm going to put it down to me being an idiot and being tired. I inverted the B like I did the X and it all seems fine.

Nathan,

I'm glad you resolved it. It can be so easy to invert the state of a input without realising. I would have picked it up sooner if I had looked at the results closer when you first posted the states when selecting the various axes.

I'll mark the ticket as resolved tomorrow.

Arie.
