MPG - Hot Stuff!

Does anyone else suffer from a hot MPG wheel? Mine gets quite hot and my only solution is to place it wheel-down onto the cast iron bed of my bandsaw/table saw/router table whichever is free. Trouble is, this can operate the E-Stop in the middle of a piece of complex carving. Not cool.

I'm wondering if it's a voltage level from the Masso that is causing this. Should I fit a voltage regulator?

Otherwise, the MPG (Chinese import - not a Masso product) is an incredibly useful addition to my CNC, particularly for setting up the job. Hate to lose it.

Hope everyone is well and safe.

Robb,

Have you read the instructions on the MPG page

Important note in the drawing regarding voltage supply for the pendant wheel.

Arie.

Hi Arie,

Thanks for the reply. Yep, I did read the MPG page and, although the wiring is slightly different for my particular MPG, it was useful information. From what I can gather, from the limited (Chinese) information I received with the MPG, it needs 5V DC. My PSU is delivering 12V to Masso and I am tapping the power for the MPG from Masso. I guess I'm feeding 12V into the MPG and that's why the wheel is getting warm. What voltage regulation would I fit to attenuate the voltage? Resistor perhaps or does this require something more complex like a small circuit?
