Hello Everyone.

I have a Masso unit on the way and have started to prep my multicam for the upgrade.

I cant find any information on the configuration of the rotary tool changer.

has anyone been able to get this working?

Looking forward to sharing my build once I get started...

here are some pictures of the tool changer in question.

the logic behind it seems not to complicated but the control board and wiring

is almost as much as the main machine control.

I will up load a video of it in operation to see how it works

thanks

Robert

@makeitcreative

Thanks for the PDF.

From that I see that Multicam consider the tool changer to be linear mounted on the gantry.

I'll need to discuss this with the design engineer how to implement it in MASSO. I won't have an answer before the end of next week.

Regards,

Arie.

Robert,

Use the Umbrella tool changer.
In setting up the TC logic select
  • Tool holder top load
  • Moves axis
  • X or Y as the case maybe.
  • Then complete all other settings.

Arie.

the tool changer uses a stepper motor to rotate the tools.

will I need to add another axis to masso to drive this?

I currently only have the 3 axis version.

Hi @makeitcreative,

I think the only way to get access is via the BETA version, which I believe you can sign up in 'My Workshop'. If you want to transfer files via the Masso link, you will need the Masso link 2.1 also.

I have it on 2 of my machines at the moment, they are still working out a couple of the bugs as it is the BETA version,

Register as beta tester.
Click the Beta Tester icon on the dashboard page of myWorkshop. You'll receive an acceptance email, this could take several hours, log back into myWorkshop and download beta version v4.02.34b. If you get a message that the software is not available, wait a while and try again, it can take time to generate the software for your serial number.

Regards,

Arie.

I have the tool changer wired up.

when homing. the machine homes the x y and Z axis correctly.

it then begins to rotate the tool tray. however it does not stop once the proximity sensor indicating home position is reached.

how can I trouble shoot this problem?

I can see on the masso input screen that the proximity sensors are switching and working as it should for both the pulse sensor and the home position sensor.

thanks

Hi Robert

Did you ever get this sorted? I am looking to do a similar conversation soon however only have a small window to do the conversation. Was yours a success?

I would also be intrested if this kind of tool changer is possible with the currently available logic in Masso

@breezy

as from you post on 30. July it sounds like this style of tool change is possible and you say the umbrella type tool change should be used. But how can the pushing up of the tool (see video post #4) be controlled by the umbrella tool changer type?

Best regards
Markus

Meanwhile I am making good progress in the design of my tool changer, but unfortunately there is still no feedback here if this kind of tool changer is actually possibel with Masso G3.

@breezy
Can you please comment on how it works?

Best regards
Markus

Hi Markus
This tool changer logic has been added to the Beta software version under development.
There is a new Popup tool changer for both rotary and linear style pop up tool changers.
I have no further information on it at this time and no release date.

Cheers Peter
