New G3

What is the difference in wiring between the G2 and G3? Thinking about buying one to replace my broken G2. If not a big difference I could have the repaired G2 for backup.

Thank You

Roie,

Quick answer A & B axis are now differential output instead of single sided. ie the same as X,Y,Z.

Arie.

Do not quite understand that. I have the two Y axis steppers wired Parallel to Masso. I have hard stops for alignment.

Thank You

from a wiring point of view, there is no difference in G2 and G3, you will not have any issues switching the two.

Roie,
Do not quite understand that.

What I meant was the A & B axis now have the same output hardware as the X,Y,Z axis so the wiring is the same across all 5 axis. In the G2 A & B axis were wired differently to the X,Y,Z axis. But as MASSO support answered you can swap from one to the other without having to make changes to the wiring.

Arie.

Hi Masso support,

In G2 if I used to slave my Y axis I need to upgrade to 5 axis because the A axis is impossible to slave on Y axis.

Now for G3 it's still the same? If I need to a tandem axis on Y axis I need to upgrade to 5axis like G2?

Thanks

Rex

Hi @pinoy-cnc

The G2 & G3 are the same. Y axis can only use the B axis for software slaving so the 5 axis version is required.

Cheers Peter
