Hey everyone, nice to be here. I'm pretty new to machining and have recently bought my first lathe, a Shopmaster Eldorado Bridgemill. It came setup from Shoptask with the mounts for stepper motors for adding CNC capability and over the next few months, that's what I'll be doing.

I've done a lot of research and really like the Masso solution and hope to implement it. I'm just not sure it will work on a machine that has both a lathe and a mill. Seems like the boxes support one or the other.

@augustmarine

MASSO is a motion controller that can be adapted to work as a lathe or a mill by just changing the software that is running it and that software is available from our myWorkshop portal. When you purchase MASSO an account is setup from where you download the version you want to run, be it Mill or Lathe. https://docs.masso.com.au/my-workshop

Hi Arie,

since I ll be using this machine as both a mill AND a lathe, does that mean I need to purchase 2 versions of the software?

@augustmarine

No, all three versions come with the purchase of the MASSO hardware and are available from myWorkshop, see Step 6 in the myWorkshop docs.

Ok, thanks Arie. So I m going to purchase the Touch mill version and get the ball rolling. I understand from you that I can switch this from lathe operations to mill by loading a different version of the software into it. That seems a little clunky but I can live with that to get the other benefits.
