New update

So, we get another update that still does not have auto X,Y,Z probing or backlash compensation. I have been trying to be patient and understanding, but now I am a bit frustrated with this. Auto X,Y,Z probing and backlash compensation are, potentially, the two most important features to have in a CnC. Backlash comp being number 1 for sure. Yes, you can manually set your work start point, but in this day and age, WHY.... I was auto probing with the my old Mach 3 machines years before I purchased this controller. My hopes, based off Masso responses, was that we would be getting these soon, but instead we get another tool changer support. Please stop beating around the bush and tell us. Are we getting either of these features any time soon. Hope you understand where my frustration is coming from.

I have to agree with you.

I would add being able to input values in the axis dros should be there too.

The masso is a cracking idea.

But!

what I would like to know is if there is any kind of cutter comp? I have not spent much time with this controller other than bench testing my motors and drives at this point. i'm not ready for this yet and probably won't be for a while but I hope it gets nailed down at some point soon. I could have very well missed it since I have not done much with the controller but I have not seen anything on it either and I have been over the information available several times and would have thought I would have seen something on this? so I am not at the frustrated point yet and more at the constructive criticism point.

if we have no cutter comp that means the only way to adjust is to do it in the program and that's not ideal at all. I would think everyone would agree. probing is a nice feature but I think cutter comp is more important if I had to choose between the two. backlash comp is important too since it helps make better parts in the end but should only be used after all other causes are exhausted.

just my 2 cents at this stage.

I was hoping the backlash comp would be in the this update also, because I have some backlash in the X axis that I can't remove with mechanical adjustment. You can only tighten a drive belt so much.

Arie.

the backlash comp is already out, it has been emailed to the alpha testers who requested to be on the alpha test release as we cant release backlash release in the main release due to the fact that so many controllers being used. So if you guys would like to get the backlash comp version as alpha testers then please just email on support with your controller serial number and we will send the software.

Regarding probing, we are trying to move some software to different memory to be able to fit the probing software but at this stage the controller memory is nearly full and hard to fit the software.

Get rid of the wizard if you want to save space....it s like putting training wheels on a Superbike. We know how to write GCODE and face off material.

if you don t believe me run a POLL on it......

This is true.

The wizards do take up space.

i know block memory address is a issue.

But basic function is paramount.

cant the wizards be loaded onnto a usb.

Or would that take a major architecture change?

heck you could load them to the masso link software.

far eaiser to work on a wizard sat comfy.

I guess I'm lucky that backlash seems non existent on my rig but I have to agree about the wizard, I used it once when I first got it working to test cut holes then it just sits there.

Is the chip upgradable or soldered to the board? @masso-support

Signed up for alpha test on backlash comp. Received test file 5 minutes later, thumbs up for service.

So today went to the shed and installed it, applied the backlash figure and re-tested for backlash and what an improvement. Backlash went from -0.2mm to 0.01mm, which is the lowest reading on our digital dial gauge, so the improvement could have been one decimal place better. Didn't have time to do any further adjustments, so I will check Y & Z axis when I return to the shed Monday week (public holiday this coming Monday). Will provide an update then.

Arie.
