No speed control from Masso G3 to Huanyang VFD

I have connected my 2.2kw spindle GDZ-8-2.2 B to my Haunyang VFD HY02D223B and Masso following Peters instruction video I did not connect the remote for/rev and pot.

My problem is that although Masso can control the forward and reverse stop and start in midi and using the on screen buttons but it will not alter the speed using the F command.

The VFD rpm readout shows 24000 but the spindle is only about half or even less than half that speed.

Hopefully this is an easy config issue with the VFD

Spindle speed is controlled by the S command eg.
S20000 M3

F command is used to control the feedrate of the axes.

Spindle is now working correctly thanks I have 2 more issues

Spindle speed is showing zero in the F2 screen

VFD is not showing the correct speed eg S1000 command in F2 screen and VFD fluctuates between 26069 and 26125 when set at ROTT

Spindle RPM only applies to lathes where they have a three wire encoder attached to the spindle. As VFDs don't have such encoder MASSO can only show zero. MASSO will show the requested speed.

Do you have the correct max speed set in the F1 setting for spindle speed? Check the voltage output on pin 1 in the spindle block as you set various speeds, this voltage should go from zero to 10 volts as you increase the S command to max.

Arie.

Are you sure you have your VFD set up correctly?
The top speed of a GDZ-8-2.2-B spindle set at 400hz is 24000RPM . It is not be possible for your VFD to show or run at 26000 if you have the VFD set up correctly.

Likewise if you set your setting in Masso to 24000 as shown in the video then the output spindle voltage will be about 4.2 volts to the VFD.
Are you sure you have the VFD set up correctly?

If you left the VFD set for a 0 - 5 volt input signal the speed will be double what you set up to 12000rpm and anything above that will be full speed.
Other settings in the VFD if wrong will report the speed of the spindle as incorrect.

F1 Spindle speed is set at 24000, I will check the voltage between pin 1 spindle block and masso grnd shortly

Peter

If my spindle pin 1 voltage is OK I will reset the VFD to factory settings and re configure. Do you have a list of the parameters and values I need to set thanks

DO NOT RESET YOUR VFD TO FACTORY SETTINGS !!!!!!

Unless the VFD is configured properly you will destroy the VFD and Spindle. Defaulting is the quickest way to do that. I've seen it done before several times.

Check out parameters. I think it will be one or both of these.
PD070 this is where you select 0-10v or 0-5v input signal. (0)
PD144 this will determine the RPM displayed on the VFD for any given speed. Enter the expected RPM of your spindle at 50hz. (3000)

Double check against your manual in case something is different.

Peter thanks for your information regarding PD144 I have reset from 1440 as stated in the users manual to 3000, the readout on the VFD is now working correctly and shows the relative rpm somewhere close to what has been set in Masso.

I have also checked every PD000 against the list that Ricks cnc produced and all are now set OK

Thank you and Arie again for your help with these issues

Steve
