Pendant signal voltages

Folks,

I looked over the pendant page, https://docs.masso.com.au/wiring-and-setup/setup-and-calibration/mpg-pendant , searched the forum but couldn't figure out the voltage levels on the MPG input connector.
  1. the pendant page implies that resolution and axis select inputs at VE+ tolerant.
  2. MPGA and MPGB are only 5V tolerant - this is sort of unclear
    1. MPGA and MPGB input pins range is 5-24V? or are these 2 pins have extended voltage input range


  3. E-Stop connector input requires VE+

What is the actual voltage range of MPG input pins? 5-24V

On the List of Configurable Inputs page, https://docs.masso.com.au/wiring-and-setup/setup-and-calibration/list-of-configurable-inputs , it states "INFORMATION: All Masso inputs are optically isolated and trigger with inputs from +5v to +24v", does this include the MPG input pins?

One last question, why isn't VE- wired to a DB15 MPG pin? VE- is connects through the DB15 shield. How are you supposed to make a reliable solder connection to the DB15 connector metal shroud?

The Pendant inputs use the same input optical isolation that the other inputs on Masso use.
The Pendant inputs only accept +ve voltages.
The MPG inputs will work at voltages up to 24V and the only reason the 5 volts is mentioned is that some MPG hand wheels are limited to 5 volts.
The Masso MPG outputs about 10 volts.
Just like the external Estop the Pendant Estop switches the +ve voltage.
The voltage range of the MPG inputs is 5 to 24 volts.

Soldering to the shroud of this type of connector is common and is easily done if you clean the surface and use a decent soldering iron capable of heating the shroud body.

If you have a MASSO Pendant it should work ok. Just make sure all MPG inputs are set to no for the invert and contact support for further guidance.
If you have a third party device please see the following topic as it has information about the nature of the MPG signal that you should be seeing. You should be able to use the information in the topic below to analyze your MPG output and confirm if it is correct.
