Note: at least in the case of a linear tool changer. I don't know about the other styles but I assume this would apply also.
If the tool change routine fails mid-change and the user homes the machine the carriage will crash into the tool rack.
An Alternative would be so simply inhibit the home routine if the tool holder rack is up since the machine is in some unknown error state.
