Power Failure Mid-Job

I had a power outage with a job at about 80%. I lost all the settings for the job and due to the design of the job I can't find the center to start from scratch.

Does anyone have any experience of such a failure and what can be done to restart when the axis settings have been lost?

Not much I guess but, I thought I would ask anyway.

@robb

Robb,

Are you running v3.48?

Then the changes to how probing & DRO zeroing work, should have enabled you to restart after homing without have to reset your settings.
  • Major changes to the way job/work ZERO is done from the F2-Program & MDI screen: In the earlier version job/work offset using the ZERO buttons in F2-Program & MDI screen used G92 temporary work offsets. The new version saves the work offsets directly to the current work offset in use. For example, if G54 is currently being used then clicking the ZERO buttons saves the offset data to G54 coordinates. These values are also saved in the system after power down.
  • Major changes to the way Probing is done: In earlier version of probing, G92 temporary work offsets were used and Set X, Y or Z buttons were required to be clicked. The new version saves the probing data to the current work offset in use.

Arie.

Hi Breezy,

Thanks for your reply. I don't have v3.48 yet. haven't received any notification for it in my email. Still on v3.46. Maybe I should hassle MASSO?

I haven't used probing as yet. Wasn't really sure what it was for that would enhance what I do. I do have a G54 running.

Incidentally, my machine supplier tells me that it is going to offer me new stepper motors that do not require a G54. It's all done on the motors, apparently. I'm wonder how this will effect the Probing tech you speak about?

I've started the job again from scratch and, prior to reading your message, I've taken a note of the machine (Homing) co-ordinates that reflect the axis zero settings for the job. My theory being that if things crater again I can find my way back using the machine settings as they are not effected by an outage.

Robb,

If you have a G3 Masso you should have received a email providing a activation link to myWorkshop.

G2 updates were emailed out on Thursday 8th.

All future updates will be supplied via myWorkshop. An email announcing the release of myWorkshop was sent Monday 28th Sept.

Regards,

Arie.

Your advertised ability to recover from power failures and no need for UPS battery backups was one of the things that sold me on the Masso G3 touch. All setup now and loving it so far. Noticeable improvement in both motion and convenience over Mach. So, as long as I homed before running the original file and called the g54 then if I lose power or shut down manually, then I can just home again on restart, load the program, and hit start? That's it?
