Anybody know how to wire the Proma SD THC to the Masso G3? Only wiring diagram I can find is for the 150 but the labels don't match on the SD.

Hi,

Proma SD is like stand alone THC you just need the to connect the pul+ , pul - and dir+ and dir- coming from masso to IN input of the proma SD and put the Pul+ & Pul - and dir + & dir- that is coming from proma out to your stepper drive.

The proma SD act like highjacking the Z axis after the proma detect the signal coming from the plasma machine.

Hoping this help you

Please be aware that since the PromaSD uses step and direction with respect to ground you cannot use the differential mode for step and direction. You can use +S +D and Masso Gnd as per the Proma SD manual. Do not common together the -D & -S but leave these disconnected as joning them together will damage these outputs.

Because PromaSD is completely stand alone you will not be able to use Masso THC commands as these are designed for Proma 150 type THC's and will not function with the PromaSD

Lastly you may need to modify your Gcode to compensate for the lack of feedback from the PromaSD. Masso will not know when the Arc has struck so you may need to allow time before starting to move.

I don't know if anyone has installed this THC on Masso to date.

Hope this helps

Cheers

Thanks for the info, Peter. I am actually not going to use the Proma SD but instead, I am going to use the MiniTHC. I have a MiniTHC en route but it is taking a while to get here so I was going to use the Proma SD I have for the time being but I decided last night to just wait for the MiniTHC to arrive.

I am using the PromaSD. It works well but you must pause it at the end of the cuts so that the orders of the proma and the gcode of raising the torch in each cut do not conflict. Also the limit of the Z movement is affected. I do not know if it is because there is conflict because I do not leave enough time to pause and the z does not go up all that it owes. But in cuts with very complex gcodes in the end jumps the end of career alert of the Z. Because when he moves, MASSO does not know.

I don't know if my words are well written in English ... forgive me
