Hi,

I am helping a friend fix his old Precix 3000 controller. The Precix 3000 controller is very old and the components are obsolete. Also the software for it Unitalk runs at Windows 98 which is also obsolete. I just recently found out about MASSO CNC Controller. I would like some help deciding or some inputs if it would be possible to replace the old Precix 3000 controller with MASSO CNC Controller 3 Axis. Here is link to pictures of Precix 3000

I got a reply from Arie De Vries at my support ticket and they said this below. So I still need a stepper motor driver like the Gecko G203. I thought from the MASSO CNC Controller videos, I just can connect the motors to the MASSO CNC Controller.

I did a bit of research and it seems that you will need to replace the driver boards with S&D drivers like Gecko G201 <-> G203.

Then MASSO Mill / Router 3 axis controller will meet your needs.

There will be other bits and pieces required to complete the retrofit.

MASSO is a 5 axis motion controller that puts out +/- 5v TTL signals (10mA) to a "amplifier" eg. driver that then controls the stepper motors.

The photos that you supplied to the helpdesk showed the three drivers, so the question is do they accept S&D signals or are they analog?

Regards,

Arie.

Hi Arie,

By the looks of it most likely accepts S&D signals. The 3 motor drivers are controlled by this board below.

Hi Arie,

I do not have any circuit diagrams or manuals. The Precix 3000 is very old more than 10 years. I am sure the driver inputs are TTL compatible since the IC's on the board are TTL IC's which I used when I was in College.

I did more research and I have a good idea what I need to do. I do need the stepper motor drivers like Gecko. Most likely I would need 2 power supply 1 for the 3 Gecko Stepper Motor Drivers and another for the MASSO CNC Controller.

I am checking if there is a cheaper alternative to the Gecko G203.
