retrofit existing Fanuc cnc to a Masso controller

I'm a Sr. CNC tech at a large manufacturing house and I would like to retrofit the Masso control onto a machine with a old Fanuc 0M control. Replace the control and keep the motors and drives. The Spindle is VFD controlled and is NOT multi-speed. Has this been done before?

You will probably have the most trouble with getting the existing drives to work with Masso, servos are mostly just servos and compatible with a large range of drives, that being said Fanuc servos can need special wiring solutions, and some drives unfortunately are proprietary in the was they receive step/direction etc, I’m not to familiar with Fanuc drives, but I do know they are one of the more supported systems out there, with aftermarket drives and things compatable for retro fitting into new CNC builds.
id look into how the signals work with your drives and then compare that to what Masso outputs. The rest of the machine and the spindle is fairly straight forward.
