Hello everybody , Like most people in the world my equipment is outdated and software is unsupported. Today I have decided that after years of research. I believe Masso maybe the solution. Lets pray because i am going to buy it tomorrow. If anybody has any insight I would love the help.

"for God's sake Jim.... I'm a sailmaker not a programmer." a little joke for any trekies

Any reason you cant use a drag knife? I use one quite successfully, I just program the start points in the same spot of differing parts in my CAM system. Works great.

Hi Carl,

I use a drag for the tough stuff like Kevlar. For lighter material like spinnaker cloth. The drag knife will move the fabric. Also i had to use a perferated rubber matt for the drag knife. With my aluminum to I don't need to use the drag knife at all anymore, i just increase air pressure on the blade. I use a pneumatic speed to prevent the blade from smashing into the table. Plus drag knife blades are expensive. I can buy the pizza blades at any Notions store. The are cheap and I consider hem disposable after 10-20 tables . My table is 40 ft long.

I cut carbon fiber / kevlar sailcloth etc.

this is an industrial machine

Have you ever used a sonic cutter in any of your applications? I was considering that for cutting heavier gasket materials.

No , I have considered hot knifing for certain fabrics. It was price prohibitive from the manufacture with regards to the amount of jobs I was considering. Kevlar and Carbon fiber do not burn. They can be cut with laser . The problem there has been a rough edge created by the Mylar laminate shrinking more than the Kevlar leaving a " saw blade " edge. Blade cutting is best for my application. I have seen the sonic cutter work very well for gaskets. Depending on volume. Laser would be my first choice if it was for commercial application. With that said , quick one job use sonic cutter is real nice, and certainly would get you started.

Thanks for the reply,

The target would be for one of a kind and hard to find gaskets for older vehicles & various machinery.
