Succesful implementation of Masso Controller on a CNC router?

Hi,

I am new to this forum, have a diy CNC router running bCNC on a raspberry PI to control smoothie board which drives my long motor stepper drivers, the current system works well for simple routing tasks, has glitch's as the smoothie board was built for 3d printing. Looking at upgrading to a Masso controller and would like to hear from anyone that has successfully implemented a masso controller on a cnc router and is satisfied with the performance? I am located in Sydney area.

Thanks

Hi @zoki

Most of the Masso controllers have been implemented on CNC routers. Should be a very easy for you to connect the Longs stepper drives following the Masso documentation page here. I would also suggest adding Masso Homing Sensors as well to make your system even more robust. They are easy to implement following the instructions in the Masso documentation page here. If you like you can upload some photos of your router setup to this forum and the Masso users and support will help you get it setup.

Cheers, Stephen Brown

Hi,

Stephen thanks for your response, I did read/review most of the documentation before I posted my question relating also read info on Longs stepper drivers, wiring is straight forward no issue there. What I would like is to hear from someone that has successfully implemented the masso on a cnc router, i.e. feedback on it's real life implementation performance. If the bulk have been implemented on cnc routers then this should not be a difficult request.

Thanks again.

Zoki,

I built my machine back in 2009 and had it setup with Mach3.

I just finished my setup of the Masso and all I can tell you is I wish I would have found it a long time ago.

My steppers never ran so smooth. Like anything the control needs getting used to it but once your past that it's a no-brainer as far as which is better.

I had a little bit of trouble getting mine to home after the initial startup, but the people in here and Masso support walked me thru it all.

Buy the time you buy a PC, pay for the Mach3 license, buy a breakout board, and buy the smooth stepper...

I'm hoping to upload a video to my FB page of my machine running with Masso in the near future. When I do I'll post a link in here.

Good luck!!!

Another happy customer here. I too wish it came about earlier. Mach 3 was costing me money. Masso has been awesome for my business and i'm about to buy a second unit also.
