test run a plasma cnc program

I was trying to fit another part onto an already well cut up sheet yesterday that I hadn't been keeping track of all the cutting in Sheetcam and I wanted to just run the new program without turning the plasma torch on, so just doing a test or dry run to ensure the part would fit into the weird shaped space. I left the plasma torch off and started the program, worked until it got to a THC line and then it errored with a no arc okay signal error, no surprise. I know I could go back to sheetcam and re-post a non-THC program to dry run but wondered if there was a way on the Masso controller to ignore the arc okay or tell the machine this is a dry run? If not this might be a nice enhancement.

My setup: Masso 5 axis Plasma v3.41 with a Proma THC150 and a Everlast 50S

Hi Mike

There is no function built into Masso to do this but you could go into the F1 screen and invert the Arc OK signal for the duration of the test but remember to set it back when you have finished testing.

If this is a regular thing you think you would need you could add a switch to simulate the Arc ok signal. Just put the switch between the Arc Ok input of Masso and ground. (assuming you are using the wiring as shown it the documentation)

This will override the Arc ok signal and if you really wanted to get fancy and choose a switch with a 2nd set of contacts you could use the 2nd set to disable the plasma from turning on when the bypass is active. That way if you forget to switch it back then you are just doing a dummy run and no harm caused.

I had a chance to draw the Plasma Test switch I was mentioning in the previous post. It is a Double pole single throw switch and turns off the relay to the plasma at the same time as it sets the arc ok to active so you can run the test.
