Torch Touch Error - Plasma table

Can somebody tell me what triggers a touch error? Does it monitor my ohmic sense with a time closed trigger?

Not sure if this was covered earlier but my table is acting up and I don t know where to go.
The table has been working great but when I let it sit it seems to happen every now and again. And as strangely as the problem started, it stops and works fine again

I load a cut file, zero out and cycle start. the torch makes a cut or 2 moves to the next location, begins to lower the Z and the controller errors out in a Touch error inches above the work piece. Re-home and restart and the same thing happens. None of my settings have changed since the last successful use. I've watched the "trigger" light on my ohmic sensor relay and it is not calling for closure when the fault happens. Same G code file that worked 3 weeks ago faulted out today. This has happened with 4 different versions of software. I did also do the 3.44 update and it still happened. The setup is DIY 4x8 plasma table, ohmic sensing, no thc as i havent been able to get the proma to work well so i gave up, Slaved X axis, s/n is 5A2217

I'm no plasma guy, but my guess would be RF noise getting into your signal wiring. Without further details on how you built and wired the machine I can't provide any other help than to say you need to use shielded cable for your motor and signal wiring.

Thanks for the thought Arie.

Its Twisted, shielded, drained . I actually used a custom shielded and drained 16 gauge stranded 4 conductor for the limit switches and ohmic sensing as well.

But for the small effort and minimal cost....worth swapping out.

I could have a cut in it. It's been working for over a year now and alot can happen
