Using the same controller for both my lathe and mill

I am contemplating purchasing the G3 controller, but have one question I can't find answered. I have both a small mill (4 axes) and a lathe (sherline) that I would like to change to CNC. Since I don't use the lathe much (and to cut down on installation space and cost), can I run both with the same G3 controller? I would get either the 4 or 5 axis version. I realize it would involve unplugging a couple stepper motors at minimum.

I know the controller is the same, and a similar question was answered here:

Thanks

Hi @willemite

Just ask for both lathe and Mill software when you purchase your G3 controller. There is no additional cost for the lathe software.

If you want to change you can very quickly load the software you want when you start Masso. I would personally use 2 flash drives. 1 with Mill software and configuration in it and the other with lathe software and configuration on it. You can swap software and be up and running in less than 2 minutes.

If you do it, I recommend running all your wiring from the Masso to one multi-pin wire connector. Then have 2 mating connectors, one for the mill and the other for the lathe. It would make the switch faster and safer.
