Wiring and configuring an output to DYN4 drive

What I am asking is probably very simple, but I am afraid I might damage the hardware if I do it wrong, so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

In the MASSO documentation, I found a wiring diagram for the specific drive I intend to use, unfortunately, it doesn't show how to connect the Pin2 (ABS_H) for triggering the drive absolute homing function. It is rarely used but this is exactly what I need for my setup.

So basically what I am trying to find out is:
  1. How to wire Pin2 (DYN4) to the MASSO controller so it receives a signal with proper length, voltage, and amperage?
  2. How to set the Output in the MASSO software?
  3. Would it be possible to control this function from the MASSO interface?

Masso doesn't have homing request outputs. Even if it did, the DMM drive doesn't have a digital absolute zero output, so Masso will never know when it's home. I don't understand why DMM have a homing input and not a "I'm home" output to send back to the controller. They are offering you the "Absolute Position Monitor" on pin 20 but that's an analogue output which seems to reset with every rotation.

Thinking outloud, you could have a NO push button connected to your +24V going into Pin 2 to make the drive pull the motor to absolute zero. You then have to hit Ctrl-Alt-Home to zero Masso's machine coordinates. You could get clever and somehow make the pushbutton also send the Ctrl-Alt-Home command to Masso, but that probably involves an Arduino or something.

Hi Derek, thanks for jumping in! Yes, this is exactly how I intend to use it - Set the homing coordinates in the drive settings (not the controller), home the machine by sending a signal to Pin2, and then zero the MASSO coordinates.

Could you please suggest how exactly to wire and configure the MASSO controller for this (questions 1 and 2 in the original post)?

I haven't purchased the controller yet so I can't experiment. I am still trying to decide between MASSO and Centroid controllers. I am leaning toward buying MASSO but I want to make sure it would work well with the DYN4 drives and particularly the ABS_H function.

My suggestion does not involve Masso, its completely separated from the controller. You are basically following the Relay/Switch diagram. You have to connect pin 16 to 24V and pins 9,12 to 0V. Then basically go from pin 16 to one end of an NC switch (I said NO before, but reading it again it's an active low signal). Connect pin 2 to the other end of the switch. When you press the switch, the drive should request the motor to go home. You may need to hold down the switch until it reaches home.

Thank you Derek, I agree, it seems using a simple physical switch would be better than trying to configure the MASSO outputs.
