X Axis Calibration

Over the last several days I have been trying to "refine" the calibration on my X Axis. I have over 20 data points using a dial indicator 0 = 1 inch (see attached). Nothing repeats. I have checked the belt and drive pulley to make sure nothing is slipping.

The first attachment is the most recent data.

My procedure is to bring my dial indicator to 0.000, go to the calibration wizard and set zero. Then go to the F3 screen and make sure X axis is set to zero. Then from this screen jog the machine until the dial indicator reads 1.000. Go to F1 and enter 1.0 and complete calculation. Record data and then try to return the carriage to 0.0. That never happens the screen in F3 always indicates 0.10 +or-.

When my dial indicator indicates 1.0001 the X value depicted on screen F3 reads more or less 1.0. When I return to the zero position via jog it never returns to 0 but more or less 0.101

The second attachment is at the zero position,

The second attachment is at the 1.000 position.

My software is 3.31 beta.

As a side note; how do I get rid of the gray and yellow banner wanting me to buy something, etc?

What am I doing wrong? Thanks for all your support

Can you please share the screenshot of our axis calibration window as we need to see the calibration data and resolution of the setup.

Thanks for the info, I think the issue is due to the fact that you are only moving the axis by a very amount. For the wizard to get the best results, you need to move the axis as much as you can because the smaller the movement you do the bigger the mathematical error will be.
  1. Please position the axis on one side and mark the location, then follow the wizard and move the axis all the way to the other corner, next measure this distance with a measuring tape or a ruler and insert the value to the wizard.
  2. Also make sure that your minimum and maximum travel settings before running the wizard is set to some large number as the axis has not been calibrated yet and these small values will limit your movement. Once the calibration of the movement is done then you can set these values as required.

Thank you for your quick response. It is much better. Will work on it more in the morning.

I am using the circle wizard to cut a 4.25 inch diameter circle that one of my can's of stain will just fit in to see if both X and Y are behaving properly.

Thanks.
