Can we make a 6 axis cnc machine using masso? I have been using masso from a while and it's just perfect. So... Is there any way we can make a 5 axis + lathe cnc machine using masso like breton's shapemill

Hi Sourabh

Masso is a 5 axis Controller + spindle. This is fixed in hardware and a 6th axis cannot be physically added and there is no C axis.

You will need to forgive my ignorance but i had a look at the video and counted only 5 axis and a spindle on the machine. I'm assuming the 6th axis is a dual Y axis configuration. If this is the case you can run 2 drives on the Y axis using hardware slaving. You loose the auto squaring feature but other than that it would run the same.

That is a common machine configuration in marble market.

XYZ are linear axes to move the Head
AC axes are for tilting spindle (which can mount normal tools or saw disks).
B is for interpolated or indexed turn axis.

Total is 6 axis for this CNC machine.

Breton uses proprietary CAD/CAM to power this type of kinematic.

Hi Sourabh

The rotary axis was right under my nose and I didn't see it. Given my inability to count I might not be the right person to ask.

That said Masso is still a 5 axis controller and you cannot add a 6th to it.

So will masso launch this kind of controller in the future? Stone industry is a massive field for masso. And you guys must look into it. It has a lot of good opportunities, especially here in India.

I guess masso doesn't have this feature yet. Do you have any other controller in mind that can fulfill this requirement?

I've some info about RTCP tilting head solution but I guess is politically uncorrect to link them here.

I've written the previous message because is interest of all to know that some application recquire different solutions, tilting head is an application case which some time I've solved.

We are looking into supplying a RTCP solution, but it will only 5 axes.
If you are willing to share what information you have on RTCP, we would gladly accept it.
