YL-620-A VSD PROBLEM

Trying to get this video to operate from masso on a 1.5Kw motor does anyone have the settings as the manual is not very help full I can get it to run run on them command but if I ad a S8000 for speed it just runs flat out can't get it to not work off the vsd panel

Hi guys .

very frustrated at the moment cant get this vfd to take proper commands from masso g3 controller .

what i am experiencing
  1. masso starts the spindle with command M3 S24000
  2. set S down in 1000 rpm increments no effect till 2000 rpm spindle goes slower stops and pulsates go up in incrument nothing till 12000 rpm spindle goes to 24000 rpm

what i dont know
  1. is where i put the spindle control in F1 screen to VFD or PWM ???????
  2. and are my setting right in the VFD

my settings i set on the VFD (line 50 Hz motor 400 HZ)

Have you followed the steps laid down in Peter's video?


It is important to do all the steps don't jump around or you will continue to go around in circles as you are now.

Parameter settings to change, all others default settings.
P00.01​

i dont have jumpers just a dip switches so looking at that page i sent leave as is just change what you said what is REV X4

Justin,

The pdf you linked to doesn't match your VFD, please supply full pdf of your unit so we can check wiring and parameters.

REV X4 was the input referred to in the pdf for reverse operation of the motor.

Going on the pdf I suspect that all off in the dip switches with give you 0 - 5v analog input not 0 - 10v.

You are correct the pdf is one i pulled off the net by searching my model VFD which is a YL-620-A my book that came with mine has no mention of settings of dip switches either only a JP1 that does not exist on the board also the settings did not work from the factory spindle just hummed and got ready w rm till I changed to those settings in the pdf I'll see if I can get a pdf from the manual

That's the copy I found as well, there is no mention of the dip switches, but going on the photo & table in the other pdf, I think that you need to set 2 & 4 ON to run at 0 - 10v, all OFF was 0 - 5v.

Jumper JP1 is the empty holes next to the dip switches.

The important thing is to get it running with potentiometer & switches as per the connection diagram in the manual first, when that happens the VFD has the correct parameters, only then can you connect to MASSO.

Hi Guys .

Finally got my masso to give my VFD commands, have speed adjustment. But have two questions
  1. When I just put in a m3 command in MDI, the spindle starts up and goes to full rpm.No s#### command given. Is this normal, if i give an s#### command speed adjusts ???????
  2. the spindle does not stop completely on M5 command. I can hold it still with no effort .I measured the o-10v on masso and it still putting out about 0.1V not much .is there a setting in the VFD to stop this

Hi Justin,
  • If your VFD uses a 0 - 5 volt input you need to build a divider circuit to drop the voltage. If you need this let me know. If your VFD can use 10v input then configure it to use that.
  • Check that you have set the spindle setting in the F1 screen to VFD and not PWM.
  • If the spindle is still turning after you turn it off you, you did not turn it off. There is a small residual voltage on pin1 which will keep the spindle turning when off which is normal. Check your Forward or Reverse input as it is not turning off. It is not pin 1's job to stop a spindle.

Thanks for the feed back, both you and Arie were very helpfull .I got it to work I played with the dip switches till I got the right configuration reallyprofessional I know .will post later for someone else who has this vfd

But I am having problems with the machine cutting smooth edge seem like it has a wobble as it goes along a curve and it seems to keep moving about 20mm every revolution any ideas

Definitely post the parameter and dip switch settings.

Regarding cutting problem, it might be best if you start a new topic with more details, photos, settings files (printable).
